Until and unless your blog does not get any visitors, it’s kind of dead. I personally do not find any reason to blog if it does not get visited by unknown visitors. Whatever may be your online business strategy, you need visitors or traffic which will be converted to buyers or your referral if you are into affiliate marketing. If you are an adsense publisher you can not think of any earning without any visitors, your potential ad clickers.
Traffic/visitor generation can be done in two ways. One is PAID and the other is FREE.
PAID visitors are those who come from different paid advertisements or paid links. Like you can advertise your blog in Adwords and pay per click to G. Here I am not going to tell you the means of generating traffic or visitors for your by PAID ways. I will only restrict to the FREE means. Hope you all like FREE.
SEO : Getting organic visitors from search engines is the FREE mean. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the key to get visitors or traffic to your blog or website. Getting listed to directories having considerable traffic helps in getting a small slice of the traffic of concerned directories.
SMO: You need SMO or Social Media Optimization for your blog to get tremendous amount of visitors or traffic to your blog. Facebook and Twitter have been proved to be of great source of visitors.
Social Bookmarking : Social bookmarking site like Digg, Stumble Upon are of use as long as getting visitors is concerned.
